Roberto Lavarello

Roberto Lavarelllo. B.Sc Ing. Electrónica, PUCP, 2000. M.Sc. and Ph.D. Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2005 and 2009, respectively. He is a full professor at the Departamento de Ingeniería of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. His research is focused on ultrasonic tissue characterization, quantitative ultrasound, and ultrasonic imaging methods. He is a former Fulbright scholar and an IEEE senior member. He was an Associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (2010-2012) and president of the IEEE EMBS Perú Chapter (2014-2016). He is currently an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control and IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, and chair of the IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging steering committee and the IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging steering committee. He is a member of the IEEE EMBS Technical Committee on Biomedical Imaging and Image Processing, the IEEE SPS Technical Committee on Bio Imaging and Signal Processing, the AIUM/QIBA Pulse-Echo Quantitative Ultrasound Biomarker Committee, the IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium Technical Program Committee, and the IEEE UFFCS Diversity and Inclusion Committee.He is the Latin American representative at the AdCom of the IEEE EMBS.
